The Family Network was formed in 2004 as a platform to provide opportunity for parents to participate and share in various sporting events and activities organized by Special Olympics Hong Kong. Family Network aims to raise the awareness of parents towards the importance of promoting social and all-round development of athletes with intellectual disability. Volunteering parents from the Family Network will form cheering teams to support athletes while they are competing overseas. Greeting parties will also be organized to welcome the triumphant return of the Hong Kong Delegation at the airport. In order to encourage the participation of parents and enhance cohesion in the Family Network, both local and international seminars are held regularly to help parents better understand the mission and belief of Special Olympics. These give them the opportunity to exchange their experiences with overseas members.
Family Health Forum was organized by the Family Network in the past few years providing health information to athletes with intellectual disability and parents to encourage them to do more fitness exercise and provide free health screening services to them.
